It was announced in Parliament on 15 October 2024, that the Royal Army Medical Corps, the Royal Army Dental Corps and the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps will be joining together to become the Royal Army Medical Service (RAMS).

This amalgamation enables an organisational and cultural shift to a unified, inclusive, and representative corps, which maximises the talents of its people to enhance our fighting power. This removes historical barriers that were right at the time but are no longer appropriate for modern multi-disciplinary working and career development. I strongly believe this offers more flexibility and ultimately greater clinical effectiveness in support of operations. From an administrative perspective this strengthens the ability of your Regimental Headquarters to support us all through recruitment, service and into life as a veteran.
